Time to Get Outside

Today is suppose to be a bright sunshine day with temperatures in the upper 40s, low 50s. Wouldn't go so far as to say it will be a perfect day for fishing, because you never know what mood the fish are in, but it will be a great day to get outside and enjoy the weather.

When the weather breaks and fishing finally turns on, we hope fishermen will be bringing their fish by the store to be weighed and have their photos taken. This year we plan to also post the photos of the fish on this blog.
 -------
The last fish brought by was in November. Here's the two photos to show you what we'll be doing this year and hopefully wet your appetite to go fishing.

Tony Duncan (right) caught a 12 pound 11 ounce hybrid bass in the West Antioch Lake on Nov. 28 fishing from a boat. He was using a spoon as bait.

Later in the day, Wesley Woods (below)  brought a 6 pound 14 ounces bass by that he had also caught in the West Antioch Lake. He was also fishing in a boat, but was using an artificial green-pumpkin seed worm.

So get out today, try your hand at fishing and bring a large catch by to have your photo posted here.

Sunshine Returns

It looks as though the sunshine will return today and maybe not too much wind. The temperature is suppose to be in the upper 40s, possible 50. However, with the winds the temperature is not expected to reach above 38 degrees.

Still very few fishermen venturing out to try their luck.

Windy Day Again

The sun is shinning, but there is a wind advisory out for today. The high temperature is expected to only reach in the low 40s and with the wind it will feel in the mid to low 30s.

We were closed yesterday, due to the weather. No snow, but cold and windy conditions with overcast skies off and on during the day.

This weekend is expected to be sunny but with cool temperatures. Still no reports of fish being caught yet from Rocky. The lake weather temperature continues to be a major factor.

Chance of Bad Weather

With the chance of bad weather and slow traffic through the store this week, we've decided to be closed today. There is still a chance of rain mixed with sleet and snow for our area. No one is out and about. The temperature is 35 degrees and with the wind factored in, it's below freezing.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this might cause, but it is necessary. We will re-open tomorrow Thursday, Feb. 25, at 8:30 a.m. (unless we get snowed in).

Be safe and stay warm.

Sunshine Again !!!

Still no reports of fish being caught, but a number of fishermen were out yesterday trying their hand. With the threat of rain and snow tomorrow, the fishermen are already out and about this morning. The water temperature remains cold, so the fish will most likely still be deep.

For those looking for fishing license, we sell them. Even though everything is done online, you don't have to have a credit card or debit card to purchase them from us...we do take cash. A year fishing license for a Georgia resident is $12.25 and a year fishing license for a non-Georgia resident is $48.25 (increase for non-residents went into effect July 1, 2009). You do need a photo id or drivers license and you must have a social security number to purchase a fishing license.

A reminder to those trying to eat healthier, we now sell Grade A Medium Brown Eggs raised by South Land Farms in Big Texas Valley. The farm is state certificated.

Rain or Sunshine, Which Will It Be?

It appears the rain may be gone for us today, however there is still a chance off and on. The temperature is expected to be in the upper 50s today.

Quite a few fishermen were out yesterday enjoying the sunshine. But no fish were reported caught. A few fishermen coming back through at the end of the day said they didn't have any luck at all, but did enjoy just getting out in the sunshine. The were also a number of fishermen just out to try out their boats and make sure they were ready for fishing once the weather is set.

Be sure to check out the new "Wild West Gun Slinger" set we have for children ages 3 and up. The gun set features a laser site so you can shoot cans off of a log. (Adults enjoy it too.)

Sunny Sunday

The sun is out and the temperature is expected to be in the 60s today. With the warmer weather yesterday a number of fishermen were out trying their luck. However, only one reported catching anything. The fisherman that said he caught something said he and his buddy caught about 18 crappie, one bass and one bream.

The water temperature is still in the 40s so it will take several warm days before it begins to raise. But it's a good day to get out and enjoy the sunshine before the rain returns tomorrow.

Be sure to stop by the store and check out the Picnic Set for four. It contains plates, glasses, cloth napkins, silverware, tablecloth, a bag for the dirty dishes and all comes in a tote bag.
